Job Description


  1. Labour relations and related activities: Investigate and answer grievances within the framework of the contract. 
  2. Advise managers on how to handle specific situations (e.g., discipline, work practice changes) and their implications in terms of labour agreements. 
  3. Serve as communication link with bargaining unit representatives (stewards/committees) and individual employees to anticipate potential problems and improve understanding of the organization’s position. 
  4. Interpret the labour organisation’s viewpoint for management. 
  5. Identify chronic labour relations problem areas and recommend solutions. 
  6. Participate in wage negotiations. 
  7. Ensure SAST notice boards are compliant with South African legislation 
  8. Oversee the development and implementation of a SAST-wide performance appraisal program and provides advice and recommendations to 
  9. SAST management and staff. 
  10. Ensure well written and up to date position descriptions and performance agreements for all staff. 
  11. Oversee the development and implementation of SASR core competencies, core values, and key performance measures into performance 
  12. Provide ongoing oversight and support to ensure that performance measures are being used to effectively manage operations, identify and manage risks, and effect organisational change. 
  13. Develop and conduct presentations and training to SAST management and staff on the performance appraisal system. 
  14. Provide training to staff on performance management and systems. 
  15. Assist with developing and implementing agency performance improvement plans. 
  16. Work closely with the Senior Manager Human 
  17. Resources in the management on the EE annual 
  18. plan. 
  19. Arrange Employment Equity Committee meetings 
  20. Take minutes and distributing to the committee 
  21. Collate information on new appointments and terminationsandanyother EErelated information 
  22. Ensure notice boards are updated with EE information. 
  23. Prepare monthly /quarterly /annual EE Report. 

Interpret and implement provisions of labour legislation and agreements to resolve problems and assure compliance by both parties by:

  2. Conduct employee induction programme. 
  3. Co-ordinate the medical-aid related activities. 
  4. Assist the Senior Manager Human Resources in the supervision of the HR department. 
  5. Keep record of all the transactions. 
  6. Audit Files periodically for completeness
